PREVAIL® FUNGICIDE

When it comes to Pythium and Rhizoctonia,
it pays to Prevail®.

For a great finish at harvest, your cotton crop needs a fast, healthy start. Because without the establishment of a vigorous, uniform stand, your crop can't reach its maximum yield potential. And you can't reach your goals for the bottom line.

Overtreating with Prevail fungicide gives your cotton seed and seedlings protection against the two most prevalent, and deadly, enemies of early season cotton: Pythium and Rhizoctonia. With Prevail your crop has a distinct advantage in achieving three components of a successful management program: health, vigor and earliness.

Early season seed and seedling diseases are costly.

Pythium and Rhizoctonia are always lurking in the field, but the weather, particularly cool, damp conditions can increase the likelihood of infection. These two diseases normally kill plants, resulting in significant stand loss. And even when they don't kill the plant, sublethal attacks greatly stress the plant, stunt its growth and slow its development, reducing the chance of reaching its full yield potential.

The economic cost to U.S. cotton growers is tremendous, with total losses estimated at nearly 500,000 bales a year, worth some $150-200 million annually.

Prevail protects against these losses and greatly reduces the risk of having to replant because of early season seed and seedling disease. Seed treated with Prevail helps produce better stands and better yields.

Commonly asked questions and answers about Prevail.

Q. What type of protection can I expect with Prevail?

A. Prevail contains three proven fungicides products: Allegiance®, Terraclor® and Vitavax®.

  • Allegiance works systemically, meaning it is absorbed within the germinating seed and moves into the seedling. Allegiance is active within the seedling, providing several weeks of protection against Pythium.

  • Terraclor fungicide works on the surface of the seed to protect against Rhizoctonia.

  • The key advantage of Prevail is the addition of Vitavax, which provides systemic protection against Rhizoctonia.

Prevail is recommended in conjunction with popular commercial seed treatment combinations for protection against early season seed and seedling disease.

Q. What are the advantages of Prevail over other hopper box seed treatments?

A. Prevail offers enhanced and longer-lasting protection against Rhizoctonia because of the systemic activity of Vitavax.

PREVAIL is labeled at a rate range of 8-16 oz./cwt., giving you flexibility when dealing with severe disease pressures and additional protection is needed.

The formulation of Prevail will provide excellent retention on seed and smooth seed flow from the planter.

Q. In what situations is the use of Prevail most advisable?

A. Several situations in particular call for over treating with Prevail:

  • When you're planting early.

  • When you're planting in fields with a history of Pythium and Rhizoctonia pressure.

  • When you're planting late, or re-planting and must have a stand established as quickly as possible.

  • When you're planting in soil below 65º F.

  • Anytime you plant and face an uncertain weather outlook.
